Digital Leaders - Their Blog
This has been a very jam-packed half term! As Digital Leaders, we had a skype call with our training leader, Paul Scott, to update him on all the things we have been up to. He was really pleased to hear about the eSafety presentation we gave last half term and excited to hear about what we have planned. In March we celebrated World Book Day. There was a design a book token competition which everyone took part in and our Deputy Headteacher, Mrs Nixon, read the school a chapter of one of her favourite books, Wonder. We also celebrated Comic Relief. We had a fun celebration like joke competitions, colouring competitions and many more. Everyone participated by donating some money and buying red noses. All the money that we raised went to a charity that helped people in a refugee camp to get a meal and some education. Everyone enjoyed this day and had so much fun! Year 5 also had a visit from local PCSO officers, who came to talk to them about staying safe online. They were also visited by Kevin from Fuel 4 School, who came to talk to them about his exciting new projects. This half term Year 5 have been learning about food waste and the sustainable development goals and ran our Fuel 4 School pay as you feel stall in the town centre twice, raising awareness of the importance of not wasting food. There have been lots of trips this half term. Some year 5 and 6 children visited York Chocolate Museum and had lots of fun! Year 4 visited Merton Park to learn about Vikings and Year 6 went to the Lemon Tree where we enjoyed some delicious Mexican food. We also had parent's evening this half term and are thankful to all parents for attending. Finally, in the last week, the whole school were visited by Reverend Peter Thomas who hosted two amazing Easter Days where we enjoyed many different Easter based activities. Year 5 finished the term with their fantastic Easter production. We hope everyone enjoys their holiday and look forward to the summer term!
